PEACE! BE STILL

The word peace means “a stress free state of security and calmness that comes when there's no fighting or war, everything coexisting in perfect harmony and freedom”.

Most times we think that it is when the environment is in chaos that's when there's no peace. Absolutely not! This will lead me to the 2 types of peace we have;

1) Internal peace: This is the peace within you. It is mostly called peace of mind. That is, the state of your mind. I want you to look within yourself. Right now, do you have the internal peace?

2) External peace: This is the peace from your environment. That is what is going on around you.

This two type of peace have their own way of affecting eachother simultaneously. Many of us are currently experiencing lack of Internal peace. While to some, they Are experiencing lack of external peace. Today, I want to introduce you to a kind of peace that is eternal.

Let's look at Mark 4:35-39

35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.

37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.

38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

In this story, we can see that Jesus was in the ship with his disciples to pass on to the other side. Suddenly, a great storm arose and the waves of the sea began to beat the ship. The disciples began to panic but Jesus was sleeping. Funny right? Yeah! Because I am laughing right now. I will want us to study 2 things here;

1) The Storm: Storm signifies challenges, difficulties that we experience in our lives. Any issue you are facing is a storm. The extent of the problem shows the intensity of the storm. Some of us, we are really struggling with a particular storm. I want to point to our notice that the storm was in the environment. The storm arouse around them. So this caused an environmental disturbance that affected the inner peace of the disciples. I will explain this well as we move further in our study.

2) The Ship: relating this story to our every day Life, the ship signifies one's life. The storm(difficulties) came and began to beat the ship(one's life). Some, their lives is currently in a great chaos. I want to you patiently read this write up and think about it because it will solve your problems

In this same passage, we can see 2 responses;

1) Jesus response: while the storms was getting more intense, Jesus was in the boat sleeping. This action is so funny. While the waves of the storm kept hitting the both, he was sleeping. What a great dimension of inner peace. He had this strong inner peace. Even the external disturbance couldn't distrupt this. As we proceed in our learning, we will learn how his internal peace overshadow the external disturbance

2) The disciples' response: As humans, this is the way we respond to situations. We panic, we loose our inner peace immediately. Fear get hold on us and we start to loose guard.

Having seen this important things, let's proceed. We can see that it was until when the disciples cried out to Jesus that the storm stopped. Just a word from Jesus calm the storm. “peace! Be still” and everything died down. Some of you, what will stop your problem is a word from God.

Many of us, Jesus in in our ship(life) but he is sleeping. You experience difficulties because Jesus is sleeping in your life. It's time to cry out to him for help so that you can enjoy peace in everything. Don't be like the disciples that waited for the ship to be filled with the waves of the storm before they cried out to Jesus. Don't wait until that issue get so big that you will now run to Jesus. Run to him now! He is the only one that can give you eternal rest.

Matthew 11:28-30

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Jesus is saying to you today, come to me. I know you've been trying to figure it out for a very long time but come to me. I want to give you that rest that surpasses the rest in the world. I want to give you eternal rest. Probably you don't evening know who Jesus is. Jesus came to the world to die for our sins. He was betrayed, beaten and nailed on the cross for our sake. He died for us to reconnect us back to the Father. He conquered death for our sake. He is stretching forth is hands to you today. He is telling you to come even in that your sinful state. He wants you. If you are ready to accept him as your lord and Savior I want you to say after me

Dear Jesus, I confess my sins to you this morning and I accept you as my Lord and Savior. Thank you for dying for my sake. Thank your for that huge sacrifice you paid all because of me. Thank you Jesus. Amen
