THE POINTER OF PURPOSE

 

   Every human on Earth is created by the creator with a purpose in mind. Purpose can be defined as the perpetual reason for the creation or making of something. It is the intention of the making of something. Everything created by God has a purpose. The trees, animals, waters, humans etc, they all have an intention for their making. E.g in Genesis 1:29, it pointed out that herbs bearing seed(fruits) is for meat(consumption). As humans, our purpose of making supercede all other makings(creations). Most people find it hard to know why they were created. It is because they have not understood some certain principles which I will explain later. Before that, there are two purpose of creation for every man. 

1) The generic purpose of making: There is a purpose which is common to every mankind and that is termed as the generic purpose of making. Jesus, before his Ascension to heaven, he gave us a commandment. Mark 16:15, “...go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature”. This is the purpose we all have in common that the gospel of Christ may be preached to every creatures. This marks our foundational purpose. It stands as the Pillar to which all other purposes stand. 

2) The specific purpose of making: As I've said earlier, every human is wired with different capacities and abilities. We all have different calling in the body of Christ. This will lead me to what I termed as the “pointer of purpose”

                 The pointer of purpose

    Many of us find it hard to know what God's purpose is for our lives. The reason is because we don't understand the two major factors that precedes purpose. This factors are:

1) Fellowship with God: The first thing that reveals what your purpose is, is your fellowship with God. Remember that you are a creature. For every creature, there is a creator. We as humans, we are all created by God. When God is making everyone of us, there is something he had in mind. While he was creating you, there are some thoughts going on in his mind. Why he made you the way you are is for the perfection of his glory in you and for his pleasure. You can only find your purpose in God through your sincere intimacy with him. Any purpose you find outside God is worldliness. When you buy a new machine, you check the manufacturer's manual to know how it will be operated. Same as you. You need to fellowship with God consistently in order to get directions from him. Cultivate that habit of fellowshipping with God daily. You are not too small to know why he created you. Draw closer to God and he will draw near to you. 

2) Self discovery: After forming a good relationship with God, you will start knowing yourself better. The pointer of purpose is potentials. God created you with a capacity. Inside that capacity lies your purpose. The reason for your making cannot go beyond what God has deposited in you. It is still around your potentials. Potential is what singles you out. Your potentials displays your uniqueness. Ten people might have the same talents, but if you check very well, you will find the uniqueness of each. Discover yourself. Spend time with yourself. The things you love doing most and you can never get tired of it is your potential. You just have passion for it. Hold on to that and keep building yourself day by day. 

    Anything you are doing and you don't find joy or peace in it, you should know that you are on the wrong path. You will feel stuck, frustrated and dry if you are walking on the wrong path. If you are on the right path, you will have to feeling of euphoria because what you do is borne out from your inside. Even when it seems hard, you will still find joy in it and you will be at peace with yourself. I found out that when one is walking according to purpose, one tends to be more submissive to God. You tend to honour God the more and even people around you. True purpose in Christ kills ego. It brings you to a perfect state of submission because the journey to purpose is not a mere walk. It takes discipline, commitment, consistency, sacrifice and perseverance. It is not an easy journey but is a journey with a peaceful state of mind. Make that decision today to follow Christ. Take your cross daily and follow it to every direction he takes you through. God didn't promise an easy path. Rather, he promised us his strength that will make us scale through. Purpose is not only your strength. It is your strength backed up with God's strength. It is not gonna be easy but remember he is with you. As you journey on the path of purpose, I want you to have it at the back of your mind that God is there with you. Through your thick and thin times, he is there. Put your trust in him. Rely on him and he will never disappoint you. Probably you have not come into the family of Christ. I want you to know that Christ took away all your sins. He died, was buried and resurrected on the third day for your sake so that you won't die anymore (Spiritual death). He became a bridge for your your sake so that he could reconnect you back to God who is your creator. When you accept the fact that he died, was buried and on the third day, he rose again then you are now part of the family of God. I congratulate you cos you have passed from death to life.
