THE GREENER PASTURE
As we all know that PASTURE is land covered with grass and other low plants for gazing animals, especially cattles and sheep. It can also means a place of abundance. A place of enjoyment.
Psalm 23:2
GNB - He let me find rest in Fields of green grass and leads me to quiet pool of fresh water.
KJV - He maketh me to lie down in Green pastures. He leadeth me beside the still waters.
This verse is our major verse for today. As Christians, many of us are in search of a green pasture. Truly we all have ambitions, goals and visions. We all want to live a comfortable Life but many are doing this in the wrong way. Many had left their purpose to search for a green pasture not knowing that your their pasture is in their purpose.
Every human on earth has a purpose for being created. There is a reason why God created you. That you are still alive today even in the face of challenges, is a reminder that God isn't done with you yet. There is a mandate tied to your creation. God created you for a particular purpose and that is your mandate. Mandate is an official order or commission to do something. Defining this from the spiritual perspective, Mandate is a God's given order or commission to do something on Earth. It is very important for you to know the reason of your existence early so that you won't waste time doing the “good but not important things”.
Many are aware of their Mandate but because of the challenges and responsibilities Life throws at them, they feel they should search for that good life first and then come back to the mandate. Many want to have a good family, take care of their parents, taking responsiblities over their siblings so they feel they should go out into the world to find means of Making it Early while still carrying the knowledge that they have a purpose. Many left their Mandate in search of a green pasture.
Now let's go to our Bible verse. From here, we can see the pronoun “He” not “I” and also we can see the word "make" and "lead". Let's take it gradually. He here signifies God. God is the one that made him (David ) to lie in a green pasture. He is the one that led him beside the still waters. This shows that God is in control of his life. Just like a Shepard in control of the sheep. David gave his all to God and God gave him all of him. You can't find your green pasture without God. You must give him that total control over your life.
Listen, don't go searching for a green pasture and forget you mandate. The truth is that in your mandate, there in lies your pasture. You may not see it because mandate isn't something that starts on a smooth road. It is not something that starts with enjoyment. It is something that starts with pains and fears. You may not see the pasture in it. But God has seen it before you. He knows your end from your beginning. He has travelled into your future and he has seen all that is there. He has seen your mistakes even before you make it. He has seen all your fears even before you start feeling it. He has seen all the obstructions in your way even before you start meeting them. He has seen it all. That's why he want you to give him total control. Just picture yourself and God. He holding your hands and walking with you. Imagine yourself asking him questions and he is smiling and telling you keep going. He sees a pit that you didn't see and told you to change direction. It is now when you change your direction that you looked back and saw what you would have fallen into. He sees a mountain at the front while you can't see because you are still far from it. You got there and you began to tell him pls move this mountain away (with tears in your eyes) and he said climb it because I won't move it. He supplied the strength for you to climb while he is there with you. He carries you anytime you fall and push you upward till you get to the peak. Now you've gotten to the peak with joy but he is still telling you son, this is not the end. The journey is still far. You became reluctant to go all because of the enjoyment at the peak. Because of your stubbornness, he permits the devil to challenge you (meanwhile, that challenge is not to break you but to get you up and continue your journey). He permits that challenge so as to tell you that's not the end. Son get up. Now you are back to God, ready to follow him. Then he began to walk you down the mountain again kicking off many rocks, making to avoid those that he knows that you can't kick. Now he has led you to your destination. A Green pasture. A place of abundance and yes you are happy.
Did you picture that? How do you feel with that imagination? Beautiful right? Now make it the reality. Go back to God if you've left him. In him is your green pasture. If you are still with God, persevere! Even when it is painful, hold on to him. In him, there is abundance!
