THE PATH TO GREATNESS

Every one wants to live a purposeful life. We all want to live a good life. A life of greatness. But many do not understand that there is a pathway to follow. There are things you need to know. People who are great in our society today walked through a phase. They didn't become great suddenly. There was a process behind it. If you desire greatness, there are things you need to know. I will be talking about the important things you need to know. 

1) find your purpose: For you to actually journey on the right path,you need to know the essence of your creation. No one is an accident. You are created to meet a need in the world. God created you for a reason and you must find out that reason. The only way to find that reason is asking your creator. He will guide you in the direction he has planned for you. I want you to know that finding your purpose involves not only God. It involves you too. The way it involves you is through self Discovery. There are some potentials deposited in you by God during your making. Your calling cannot be outside your potentials. It links together. You need to discover yourself. Ask yourself questions. What interest you? What do you love doing? What skills do you have? Ask questions. That's how you discover who you are and what you can do. God will guide you in the the direction he has planned for you. Be obedient. Sometimes, it might not be what you want but obey him. On the long run, you will find out that it is everything you wanted. Be obedient. Be submissive to his authority. 

2) know what you are bargaining for: After knowing where God wants you to go, start planning. This is the time where determination comes in. This is the time confidence comes in. Be sure you are on the right track. Make plans on how you want to attain that height. You should not just work. Work with a plan. Have a vision. Look beyond your present. See your end point. This is what I want to be at this particular point in my life. Have a structure. Know where you are coming from, where you are now and where you are going to. Have a plan!

3)  Gather resources: resources means ideas, insights, books etc. You need to learn from people. You need to meet people who are already on that journey. Learn from them. Read books. Probably you want to be a photographer, meet people in your field. Gather resources. Learn!

4) serve: most people don't like hearing the word “service” or “serve”. For you to attain that height, you need to serve others. Serve people that already doing what you have a vision for. It provides an avenue to learn more. You learn from their mistakes. What you ought to learn by experience, you learn by learning from others. Service opens you to opportunities. It widens your knowledge. Learn how to serve!

5) Trust the process: don't rush the process. Rather, trust the process. A journey of a thousand miles starts with a step forward. You can't become great in a day. It's a journey. Trust that journey. A child doesn't grow in a day. A seed doesn't grow into a tree in a day. It takes a process. Trust that path. Keep walking. It may be hard but don't focus on the pains. Focus on the gain ahead of you. Be consistent. Be committed and be disciplined. Keep moving forward. 

Having said all this, there is another aspect I will like to talk about. 

   The crown of greatness is very heavy. It is delicate. The more you go higher, the more it gets difficult. Sometimes you will feel lonely. The more you journey, the more you loose friends, the more you gain less friends. Why do you think some celebrities commit suicide? Despite all the have; the money, fame, fun etc. Why? This is to show that if you don't know how to handle greatness, it will handle you. Greatness bring about fame and if you don't know how to handle it, it will lead you to serious depression. People only focus on the crown those people are wearing. They don't look at the tears. They don't see the daily struggles. Even while they are shedding tears in their corner, people hail them. Most of them are depressed. People won't see your struggles. They only wanna see the crown. They are only interested in what you become and not you, yourself. You can have everything you want in life and yet you don't have happiness. That's why you should start with God. Know where he actually want you to shine. 

Greatness isn't a little thing so you have to learn from people who have walked your path. Look, at the beginning of your journey, there will always be people to strengthen you. There will always be people who will fan your flames. They will keep motivating you but never build your greatness on that platform. If you do, it will crumble in no time. You won't stay long there if you are building your life on the motivations of others. As you journey, the people fanning your flames will reduce. The people motivating you will reduce. You become lonely as you walk. But keep walking because, you will meet like minds on the way. They will help you. But note that not all of them will stay for long. They come according to times and seasons. Learn how to fan your flames yourself right from the beginning. Be your own motivator. Build yourself from the foundation of Christ. He is the only one that will journey with you till the end. Be confident in the path you are walking. It may not look good now but sooner it will. Persistency is important. Don't stop when it gets hard. Don't stop when it gets tight. Keep journeying!
