SPIRITUALITY AND ETIQUETTES

     Spirituality has to do with your relationship with your relationship with God. That is, your journey with God. It is not a state of trying to be religious rather a state of understanding that there is a higher realm and everything about you has a connection with God. You don't want to loose that connection. That's why your spiritual life is very important. Your spirituality should reflect in every areas of your life. Not only spiritual things but also the physical things. Your spirituality should be your entire way of life. As culture is a way of life, your spirituality should also be your way of life. It's so pitiful when I see people separate spirituality from other aspect of their lives e.g businesses, career, relationship, marriages etc. Your spirituality must reflect there. All in the name of spirituality, some people forget about their etiquettes. They don't even have manners anymore. They start doing things shabbily. I'll be talking about the etiquettes most people have put aside. 

Spirituality and etiquettes in females

    As a woman, you must be very upright in your walk with God. Be a woman of prayers. Be a woman of miracle. That when you speak, situations changes, things get straightened. Place high value on your spiritual life. Mind you, that doesn't means that you shut down every other areas of your life. I've seen so many sisters do this and I feel bad because they fail to understand that Christ must be seen in every areas of your life. Not just spiritual life. Your spiritual life must have full expression in your physical life. The nature of Christ must be seen in every areas of your life. So let's talk about the areas that had been shut down;

1) Spirituality and appearance: This is very common among ladies. The fact that you place so much value on you spiritual life doesn't mean that you won't take care of yourself. Your outer appearance is very important. Dress well. Have a good hygiene. Make your hair tidy. Stop looking 50 when you are just 20! Stop looking like a puffed balloon. Be decent in your dressing. I'm not saying you should start exposing your body or you should stop covering up. No! I'm not saying that. What I am saying is that dress responsible and presentable. You may like wearing trousers, wear it with decently. Wear it with a good sense of morals and dignity. You may like skirts, wear it responsibly. Probably you even like long gowns and skirt, wear it and look good. Wear your size. Look good in it. Don't expose your body rather dress in a way that glorifies God. Look smart, walk smart. It's okay if you don't like make-up. Look good in your natural face. Take care of your skin and glorify God in your appearance. 

2) Spirituality and manners: that you are spiritual doesn't mean you should lack manners. Most Christian ladies only know how to behave well when they are in church or among brethren. Outside church, they are something else. Stop camouflaging. Let Christ be your true nature every where you go. Talk responsibly. Have courtesy. Be reserved. It's not until you start quoting the Bible or speaking in tongues before people can know that you place values on your spiritual life. The way you do things should show who you truly believe in. Have manners. Act responsibly. Show love to people even strangers. Let people see the way u do things and glorify God. In rev 6:11, the Bible says we are created for God's pleasure. Let your life please God. Have good gesture and good sense of humour not only to the people you know, even to strangers. Know when to talk and when not to, know when to walk away. Have manners. Oh! You want to have fun with your friends. Good! But make sure everything you do, God is pleased with it. It's not about maturity. It's just that you are expressing Christ in you. You are expressing his nature. 

3) spirituality and relationships:  my dear sisters, relationships are very important in life. I'm not talking in the sense of courtship but in the way you interact with people whether believers or not. Define every of your relationships. In your business, show Christ in every thing you do. Let your co-workers see you and see God in human. Respect people. Bless people. Make people feel good about themselves. Don't just be going around carrying Bible in your armpit and speaking in tongues. Don't be like the Pharisees in Matt 6:5 that love to show people that they pray. Have this mindset ‘when people meet me, there should be changes in their lives.’ they should be able to pick a character from you. In any industry you find yourself, respect is very important. Even if you are older than they are, respect them all. Let the nature of Christ be seen. Be what you preach. Let people see the testimonies of the fullness of God in you. Love people. Show love to them. Stop being rude. 

3) Spirituality and marriage: Your marriage should be based on the foundation of the word of God. Let God be seen in your marriage. Listen to your partner, understand them. Be everything to them. They same way you are fervent in the Lord, be committed to ur partner too. As a lady, I want you to understand that marriage is not “my Spirituality”. It is now “our Spirituality”. That is, there has to be a mutual acceptance there. Don't say because you are a fire woman, you neglect some parts of your partner's life eg your sex life. Understand him at every point. That's why it is good to marry someone share the same faith. That is, you both know the same thing. Be supportive to your husband. Let Christ be seen in ur attitudes to him. Be that virtuous woman. Embrace him in all ways

Spirituality and etiquettes In males

   As a man, there are alot of things you need to understand. A man is the head of the house. Probably you are not even married yet, there are some things you need to know

1) in your appearance, look good. Spirituality doesn't mean that you start wearing baggy clothes. No! Look presentable in your appearance. Have a nice haircut. Be responsible. Remember, the way you dress is the way you will be addressed. Look decent. 

2) spirituality doesn't account for laziness; stop being lazy. Your spiritual life doesn't stop you from having a job. No food for a lazy man. Stop giving excuses. Spirituality doesn't account for mediocrity. Have things you do. That doesn't mean you will stop your fervency with God. You are gonna be a husband and father one day. While you are single, that's the best time to achieve a good financial status and good relationship with God. Because when you get married, responsibilities will set in. If you don't learn how to do everything together now, when you get married you will be fustrated. Don't be lazy. Have something doing. 

3) relate with people very well. Because you are a believer doesn't mean that u should not have anything to do with unbelievers. Have a good relationship status. Learn from people. Even if they are not christians, learn. But make sure u judge things by the standards of God's word. Let people see you and glorify God.  Because you are Spiritual doesn't means that you should be quoting Bible everywhere. Know the right words for every seasons. Know what to say when it comes to business. It's not that you start quoting Bible in a business summit. Places like that, your character and way of doing things should be the one showing Christ.

4) in your marriage, don't start putting spirituality on everything. Don't let romance grow wings and fly out of ur marraige all because of you are Spiritual. Take care of your wife. Attend to every of her needs. Hang out together. Try new things. Don't be quoting Bible and speaking in tongues everywhere. Know when to do that. Enjoy your selves. Enjoy your marriage. God is love. Love you wife and children. Take good care of them and teach them in the way of the Lord. 

   I want you to know that you are all created for God's pleasure. Let the nature of God have its full expression in your life. Let people see you and Glorify God. Live your life in accordance to God's will. Improve more on your etiquettes. Improve in your life. Being Spiritual doesn't stop you from reading books. Read books, listen to podcasts that make you a better person. Engage in activities that will shapen your life according to the will of God. I want you to say this affirmations daily to yourself

   “I live my life in accordance to God's will. I let Christ to have his perfect expression in my life. I embrace his love and I show it to others too. I am a light. I begin to stand as an entity of light wherever I go to. When people see me, they see God's glory. Every areas of my life shows Christ. I reflect God's nature in all my doings.”
